Our company "family" is comprised of human emergency services career professionals, equine owners and industry professionals, and large animal veterinarians and veterinary technicians, or a combination thereof with decades of service in each field. Depending on the type and level of event, our equine ambulance units will be staffed with two (2) – four (4) highly trained personnel who are proficient with the basic and specialized equipment on each unit, capable of handling equines with various levels of training or behavioral issues, and the ability to perform basic first-aid measures until the arrival of a veterinarian for advanced level care.
We are team players that are well-versed in providing our services in high-stress situations and communicating effectively, via a handheld radio communications system or in person, with a collaboration of people that we may have only just met. We will work seamlessly as a team to get tasks accomplished with each person knowing the roles in which they are responsible for and their individual scope of practice. The personnel on-site at the event operate under the direction and advisement of the attending licensed veterinarian(s) with regard to the equine's medical care and are solely responsible for the application or removal of and use of our equipment during the performance of their duties. Should a secondary (back-up) unit be provided by the organization or venue, our personnel, equipment and supplies will remain on our company’s unit and will not be permitted to be left at a secondary location without the accompaniment of a representative from our company.
We will have everything prepped and in the designated staging area ready to respond no later than thirty-minutes prior to the events scheduled start time. The attending personnel is expected to attend any event planning or officials meetings the day of the event in order to gather information necessary to perform their duties in the best manner possible.
During the event, our personnel will require means of direct contact (radio or phone) with an event official or director and must have unobstructed ingress and egress to and from the staging area to any incident location, secondary location (barn area, veterinary treatment area, deceased holding area), and entry/exit points to the venue should a response to an incident or transport be necessary.
Although time is of the essence in most emergencies, our personnel will, at no time, assume a response is warranted or depart our staging area to proceed to the incident under any circumstances, or be solely responsible for taking over care, custody and control of an equine without being advised to do so by the event “control”, technical delegate, steward, race director, veterinarian, or designated authority responsible for equine related emergency responses at the event. We understand and acknowledge that there are rules and regulations in place that vary based on the nature of the event and the level of competition and respond accordingly.
Our company contracts with the client, venue, or event organization for event stand-by, not with a trainer, veterinarian, or an equine owner or agent. We will remain on location until the last equine has finished competing or when released by a person of authority. During the event, the unit and personnel are not allowed to leave the venue to transport equines off site without the permission from the head event official due to our contractual agreement. Therefore if an equine requires transport off site to a veterinary facility, the transport arrangements will be scheduled for after the completion of the event unless otherwise approved in writing by the head event official. The requested assistance or transport will be handled as a separate service call and transport and will be at the expense of and sole responsibility of the equine owner/agent and not the client, venue, or event organization.
4Hooves Large Animal Services, LLC would be honored to be hired to stand-by at your event with our fully equipped equine response and transport unit staffed by our highly trained and experienced personnel.
