Upon request from a veterinarian, 4HLAS can provide transport services for equines experiencing a medical emergency. When stabilized and cleared for transport by the treating veterinarian, 4HLAS can transport the equine either in a standing position if ambulatory, in a sling supported position if non-weight bearing and appropriately sedated by a veterinarian for the duration of the transport, or in a recumbent (down on side) position secured to our Large Animal Relocator Sked and appropriately sedated. Each of our transport trailers has a camera monitoring system in place so that the equine can be observed from the safety of the truck during the transport. Emergency transports will be handled, when available, on a case by case basis upon discussion with the attending veterinarian and owner / agent of the equine. Although these transports are classified as "emergency" transports, 4HLAS drivers will abide by all traffic laws while transporting the equine as quickly and safely as possible.
We are extremely familiar with handling routine and emergency transports to the North Carolina State University - College of Veterinary Medicine Large Animal Hospital and can also provide transport to other veterinary clinics and hospitals. Emergency transports will be provided for the local area and specialized medical transports will be provided when scheduled in advance to hospitals and clinic within North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina.
